— THE SCHEME RIDICULED, NOT A BUSINESS PROPOSITION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, December 8. Commenting on the Melbourne Conference’s proposal to establish a I Wool Realisation Association, the ! Yorkshire Post says the scheme is j obviously intended to place power in { the hands of the Australian wooli growers to dictate the values of 1 merinos to the rest of the world, hut 1 £25,000,000 will not he nearly suffl--1 clent to accomplish such object, even if the British Government Wool Department was disposed to relinquish the control they now exercise over 2,000,000 bales. The average price of Australian wool is now £35 a bale, but the Realisation Association's proposal appears to be that the 2,000,000 bales be resold to them at £l2 10s, therefore the suggestion is not a serious business proposition.
