CRICKET IN AUSTRALIA

The weather was hot and muggy tor the continuation of the match, England and an Australian Eleven. The attendance was large. The Englishmen's scoring was slow in the early stages of the game, 100 runs trting 110 minutes to make. In spite of several changes of bowling, ' the score steadily rose, the partnership between Russell and Hendren yielding 87. Through a misunderstanding, Wooley was run out, and Douglas succumbed to Marsden without scoring. Armstrong took the ball, but the ■core steadily mounted. Hendren, who played a steady, chanceless innings, was bowled by Hornibrook when near his century. He batted 182 minutes, and hit 10 fours. The last batsmen "played out time. (United Press Association.) | Received December 5. 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, December 4. The weather was fine and the wicket good for the continuation or the match, New South Wales v. South Australia. New South Wales in their first innings have lost seven wickets for 675 (Bogle 103, Bardsley 235, Kelleway 168). The Bardsley-Kelle-way partnership gave a very sound exposition of batting which occasionally was brilliant. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN INDIGNATION. (United Press Association.) Received December 6, 10.20 a.m. SYDNEY, December 6. The South Australian cricketers ace Indignant, owing to the refusal of New South Wales to postpone the opening day of the match. The former arrived at Sydney at noon, and were on the field at 2.45. Mr McCarron, the manager, Who is strongly protesting, said the were disgusted. They were weary and sore. It was a pity that the opportunity was taken to smack up a big score under a handicap.
