TO A LABOUR M.P. BY A RETURNED SOLDIER. Ry Telegraph—Press Association. ' WELLINGTON, Monday. Mr F. L. Fox, a promimint returned soldier, has sent a letter to Mr P. Fraser, M.P., who is also'a. City Councillor, stating he had noticed that Mr Eraser's name was omitted from the Council's address of welcome •to the Prince, and he understood that this was by Mr Eraser's own request. Mr Fox animadverts on this, and 'tells Mr Fraser that in former days he would have" challenged him to a duel, but, as wc are in 'modern times, he has no alternative but to ask him to Resign his scat in the House and he will contest it with him. MR FRASER DECLINES. WELLINGTON, Monday. Mr P. Eraser, M.P. for Wellington Central, declines to accept Mr Fox's challenge to resign his scat. He says that he is solely responsible to the executive of the National Labour Parly. LABOUR AND LOYALTY. (Special Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Monday. One of ihe minor outcomes of the Prince's visit is a challenge appearing in the local' papers to-day from Mr John Fox, one of the founders of the Returned Soldiers' Association,_and one of its most sturdy pillars to-day, W Mr Peter Fraser, the member for Wellington Central, lo resign his seat in Parliament, and re-contest it with the challenger. Mr Fraser, holding the perverted view a small minority of th-> Labour Party does in regard to the position the Crown occupies in the Constitution, declined to sign the address of welcome presented to the Prince by the City Council, and Mr Fox wishes to contest his seat with him on tills question. Mr Fraser is scarcely likely to accept the challenge, and the Prince would be the last person to wish him to do so, but the incident fairly represents the temper of the cimmunlty. A vast majority of ttt<s member's constituents arc utterly out of sympathy with his attitude.
