BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY
ORDINARY MEETING. The meeting of the Hamilton Beautifying Society on Monday was attended by Messrs W. G. Pountney (chairman), Fowler, Burton, Worsley, *K. Parr, Tombs, Wallace, and the foreman (Mr Mitchell). Messrs Pountney and Wallace re- . [•oiled that they had inspected the King Street plots, wnich required a good deai of attention.—Mr Pountney to interview tlie Borough Supervisor. Jt was resolved to write to the Domain Board regaru.ug the growth of gorse in Willoughby and Galloway streets, which was damaging the Society’s work. The foreman was instructed to overhaul all the trees on the roadsides, and to report on the number of trees required to replace dead and damaged ones. The Kowhai Park Committee was asked to submit a report as to the present work at the park, and what it was intended to do in the immediate i future. , In the course of his report on the | work done during the past fortnight. ! the foreman mentioned that the new grass plot at the railway station han ‘ been rolled and planted, and the young 1 grass was coining up splendidly, ami would provide a good sward before next summer. The memorial trees in Kowhai Park were thriving splendidly. —The report was adopted.
