BRITISH TRADE

ESTIMATED IMPORTS AND EXPORTS "(Australian andN.Z. Cable Assn.) Received January 18, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 14.

The Board of Trade journal estimates the invisible exports from the United Kingdom during 1919 at about £520,000,000 including £80,000,000 from overseas. The investments total £400,000,000 from a shilling income tax, and this is available to meet the excess of imports totalling £669,000000. It is expected that the invisible exports in 1920 will be £640,000,000, while the excess of imports should not exceed £440,000,000. After making al' allowances, the United Kingdom seems in a fair way to receive a surplus of £200,000,000, which was available annually before the war for investment abroad.
