LOST POSTAL MATTES
FOUND IN HARBOUR. (Bv Telegraph. — Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Mr Page, S.M., commenced an inquiry to-day regarding the non-delivery by the post office of mail matter. Recently Joseph Murphy, postman, was charged with having, on or about December 10, negligently lost a bundle of letters, which was 'afterwards found in the boat harbour. The offence was not proved. It was limn decided to h " ,li ;,n inquiry. The Department admi s the receipt and non-delivery of the letters and contents. Murphy was responsible for the, non-delivery. It :s mh-ged that some 35,000 letters were receiv'd hv tlie Dost otiieo from lii** Xev/ Alliance for delivery in Hie nty end suburbs, and v/vp* sorb-d IXO sorters, and delivered to live separate carriers.
