THE SHIPPING TROUBLE
NEGOTIATIONS STILL PROCEEDING. (United Press Association.) Received January 16. 12..10 a.im SYDNEY, Jan. In. The engineers of the Waihora, which yesterday arrived at Newcastle from Vancouver, to-day gave notice that they are on the Australian articles. Reports from Melbourne state that negotiations towards a settlement of the engineers’ strike have not been broken off, and the parlies will nu.et again to-day. One unofficial report states that there is a probability that the vessels will he manned on Monday.

The Government lias decided to as_ sisl the watersiders and transport workers, who have been idle as the result of the shipping strike. Three engineers of the steamer Eastern were charged with refusing U< proceed to sea, but limy proved that the refusal was due to medical reasons and the cases were dismissed.
