AUSTRIAN WARSHIPS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. Received January 15, 5.5 p.m. ROME, January 13. Tugs sent to Cattaro to take over the surrendered Austrian warships—notably three battleships, four destrovers and 12 torpedo boats—found them damaged almost beyond repair.
GIRLS FROM THE WAR OFFICE. (Times.) Received January 15, 5.5 p.m. LONDON. January 13. A number of girls dismissed from the .War Office are hiring an aeroplane to pursue the Premier to Paris to submit their grievances.
N.S.W. DRINK BILL. (United Press Association.) Received January 15, 10 p.m. SY'DNEY, Jan. 15. The Statistician reports that the New South Wales’ Drink Bill for the year ended June 30 last, was £7,277,000, an increase of £59,000 compared with •the previous year, though the amount per head of population is a decrease of about eleven pence. A feature is the continued decrease in the consumption of spirits and the increased consumption of Australian beer and wine.
