The'attendance at the Davis Cup contests promises to be a record, the bookings of seats having been extremely heavy, and big crowds daily watch the teams practising. Both sides have put in much strenuous preparation and are reported to be in first-class trim. The weather outlook is not promising. On Friday there was a tierce thunderstorm, arid a flooding downpour swept the city last night, and to-day is showery. However, the courts are protected by tarpaulin coverings nad have hot suffered. Br mutual consent, Mr M. H. Marsh has been appointed referee.
