Admiral Kolchak telegraphed from Irkutsk that he is resigning, and asking for Allied protection. This was granted, the Czechs being ordered to rescue him. It appears that the whole of Kolchak's troops at Irkutsk joined the revolutionaries, making the Government's position Impcless. General Semenov's forces are demoralised. The revolutionaries now hold all the towns west of Lake Baikal. Received Januarv 14, 7.40 p.m. HELSINGFORS, Jan. 13. The Bolshevik delegation at Dorpat has received wireless advice that the Bolsheviks captured Irkutsk, and took Kolchak .prisoner with bis entire staff. LONDON, Jan. 13. A Moscow wireless proves the falsity of the assertion ihat the Bolsheviks have captured Irkutsk. The Bolsheviks are actually advancing beyond Krasnoyarsk. The Social Revolutionaries bold Irkutsk. They took possession'after General Seminov's troops were driven out of the station, leaving 170 dead. Fighting is reported at Vorkheudinsk. The Allied commissions have reached Missovaia, on Lake Baikal. Other foreigners arc attempting to leave Irkutsk, but are prevented by lack of locomotives. They are now protected by Japanese troops. The Secretary for War (Mr Baker) has announced that the withdrawal of the American troops from Siberia will begin immediately.
