CAMBRIDGE SWIMMING CLUB
A SUCCESSFUL EVENING.
The last swimming gala of the season was held in the Cambridge Swimming Baths on Friday evening, when the attendance was easily a record, there being not half enough seating accommodation. The officials for the evening were: President, Mr E. J- Wilkinpouj judges, Messrs Geo. Calvert, A. AV. Gane, K. AV. Magill; starter, Mr AV. AVilkinson; check starter, Lieut. H. Vanse; competitors’ steward, Mr C H. Hargreave; result steward, Mr C H. Priestlcv; time-keeper, Messrs T. Morris, E. C. Ekman; handicappers. Messrs E. C. Ekman and AA r . AVilkinson. The weather conditions were all that could he desired, and the swimming of a highly interesting nature- • The chief event of the evening was the relay race for the Waikato Banner, which was won by the Hamilton High School, with Cambridge second. The race was easily the best seen at the Laths, Hamilton' having a lead of a touch at each length, and finally "’on hv a touch. 'The following arc the results:— 50 Yards Schoolboys’ Handicap.— First Heat: E. Bvrne 1, Anderson and S. Connolly (dead heat) 2; time, 48s. Second heat: AVilkinson 1, Parker 2; time, 47 3-os. Third heat: J. Connolly I. N. Mclvor 2; time, 48s. Fourth lieat: B. Connolly 1. P. Glanvillo 2; time, 58s. Final; -4. Connolly 1, B. Connolly 2; time, 48 3-5 - Won oy half a length. 25 Yards Schoolgirls’ Handicap.— First heat: I. Mayes 1, B. Bennett 2; time, 28s. Second boat: C. Going 1, J. Srnales 2; time, Final: C. Go : ng 1, I. Maves 2: time, 26 3-ss. Belay Pace for Waikato Banner— Hamilton High School 1. Cambridge 2, Hamilton 3. Time. 1.59 3-5. 50 Yards Ladies’ Handicap. Flrso heat: V. Newman 1. I. Mayes 2; t.im", 455. A very good race, there onlv being ,about half a yard between them the whole race--50 Yards Handicap (youths under 18). —First Heat: E. Bvrne 1, C. Chubb 2; time. 41 3-ss. Second heat: B. First heat; A. Croxford 1, R. Drummond 2; time, 445. Second heat: T. Olson 1, C. Chubb 2; time, 455. Third heat; H. Marcroft 1. J. Howard 2; time, 40ts. Final; Marcroft 1, A. Croxford 2, T. Olson 3; time, 375.
