The Cambridge Road District ratepayers appear to he taking a greater interest in local polities than for some time past. Recently a Ratepayers' Association was formed in the district, and this body is now nominating candidates* fit oposition'to the retiring members at the coming election. A lively content is expected.

In reference to Mr Kalaughers (Director of Education) suggestion that a week's school fur farmers be held at the Ruakura Farm of Instruction during the slack season, the executive of the Waikato Sub-provincial District of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, sitting at Hamilton yesterday, considered the proposal a good, one, and it was decided to refer k,to the branches, and to obtain a list of the names of those willing to attend. At the meeting of the executive of the Sub-provincial District of the NewZealand Farmers Union yesterday, Mr R. D Duxfield mentioned that Mr Kalaugher, Director of Technical Education, had recently asked for an ex. pression of opinion upon his suggestion that a technical college lie established in Hamilton as a soldiers' memorial. After considerable discussion the exetive decided, on the motion of Mr Searill, that lack of unanimity among members on the matter prevented the sub-provincial area, as a bodv, taking any concerted action.
