HAMILTON MUNICIPAL BAND
SOLO COMPETITIONS. »f T A e j? ol ° Competitions held in the Methodist Schoolroom last night, under the auspices of the Hamilton Municipal Hand, proved very successful. There was a fair attendance and the audience derived much enjoyment from the competitions. Mr T. S. Webster acted as pace, and gaxe every satisfaction, the band being fortunate in having the benefit of his great musical knowledge His decisions proved verv popular. In the absence of Mr H. Tristram, Mr T. Donovan acted as supervisor. The competitions resulted" as follows :

No. 3 Group.—H. Tristram, horn solo, "The Return."
No. 4 Group.—T. Steele, horn solo, "When They Come Home." The competitions were the forerunner of a series which will be held by the band. Judcing by the interest mani. tested in the first the series should be very successhil. The medals won last night will be presented at a social to lie held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Wednesday next
