FEDERAL WAR LOAN
£18,000,000 REQUIRED. APPEAL TO EMPLOYERS. (United Press Association.) Received January 16, 11.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, Jan. 16. Hon. A. Poynton, the Federal Treasurer, in appealing for subscriptions to the War Loan, announced that the Government requires £18,000,000 for war purposes. He estimated the private wealth of Australia at £1,000,000,000. Received January 10, 12.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, Jan. 15. The Commonwealth Treasurer, Hon. A. Poynton, strongly appeals to employers to help employees to subscribe to the War Loan.
