Sergeant-Major C. Learwood, of the Hamilton Defence Staff, goes into camp with' the Twenty-first Reinforcements, which leave on September 19. Mr Michael Hawkins, Inspector of Pi •ison Works and Buildings for the Dominion, is at present in the Waikato. To-day he is visiting the prison camp at Waikeria. Mr and Mrs Longmire, of Yokohama, are at present staying at Cargen, Auckland. Mr Longmire, who is a prominent man in the banking world of the East, intends to stay twelve months in New Zealand, making Auckland his headquarters. Mrs Longmire is a sister of Mr S. Armstrong, Kaipaki, and a niece of Mr John Hutchinson, formerly of Orakau, Kihikihi.
