SHORTAGE OF IRON.
PROHIBITION ON EXPORT

Owing to the shortage of pig-iron the Government thinks that over many tin plates are being manufactured. The .Ministry of .Munitions therefore has untitled manufacturers that the export has been entirely prohibited, except under license; also that it will permit only the manufacture of plates required for Government contracts of which particulars must be furnished.
At the request of shippers. Sir .lohn MeCall, Agent-General for Tasmania, is m; ikiiig representations to the authorities, urging that the Dominions be
