The Eastern Operations.
RUSSIAN RETREAT IN GALICIA. MANY PRISONERS AND GUNS TAKEN. GERMAN ATACKS ON THE VISTULA REPULSED. Received June 27, 2.50 n.m. AMSTERDAM, June 26. Austrian official reports state that they repulsed the Russians' counterattack on the north hank of the Dniester beween Halier and Zurawno. Our attack is progressing. We captured Chodoron, north of Zurawno. Received June 27, 3 p.m. LONDON, June 20. The Daily Mail's Petrograd correspondent states that during their retreat in Galicia the Russians captured 130,000 prisoners, 300 machine guns, and 50 big guns. PETROGRAD, June 26. Official: The Germans attempted offensives on the Middle Niemen, in the Omuleff and Oritz Valleys, and on the Vistula south of Pilitza. All were repulsed except that at Oritz, where we yielded. The Germans suffered great losses south of Pilitza. We drove the Germans across the Dniester near Jogary, the units remaining on our side heing taken prisoners. On Wednesday we captured the remnants of the forces, which crossed near Marinoffstany. Nevertheless the Germans the same evening attmpted to recross near Bukatchevus, where the fighting continues.
