GENERAL CABLES
A RAILWAY MUDDLE. Received June 23, 9.50 p.m
SYDNEY, Juno 23
Recently a new railway station was opened at Milson's Point, with the objects of obviating a dead end and separating the railway from the ferry traffic, at a cost of £30,000. The substituting of awkward overhead bridges for level landing and other serious inconveniences led to a great press and public outcry, resulting in abandoning the new and reverting to the old station.
CONTROL OF EXPORTS. Received June 24, 8.5-5 a.m. LONDON, June 23
The Customs Exportation Restriction Rill has passed through all its stages in the House of Commons. It provides more effective control of exports to neutrals.
Mr Prettyman pointed out that a Netherlands overseas trust had been formed, which guaranteed that goods exported by the trust would not reach the enemy. It was therefore intended to prohibit exports to Holland except through the trust.
