EX-POLICE INSPECTOR'S DEATH. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Peter Pender, formerly Inspector of Fclioe, died at Ttedcfiffs yesterday, aged 84. He was, in his youth, in the Irish mounted police ajid saw , service in the Crimea. He subseqiueotly assisted in organising the pc«&iee in Turkey. He caime to Victoria in 1856 and New Zealand in 1862, was promoted to inspeetor in 1884 and retired in 1902.
