GRIFFIN BEATS MURPHY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND. Tuesday. The Northern Boxirg Asso:d.vtion held its tnumamui; lssc v.. .'it in the presence of a good house. BANTAM. The first round of the bantam contest Marsden (who is lame and was not allowed to box at Hamilton) won on pcir.ts over Marshall and Gilchrist, who beat Bond. Blake had a bye. In the final Marsden was not permitted to box an;! it was contested by Gilchrist ; nd Blake, the former winning m the first round. Mr Brown was referee. HOLT AND KRONAST. These middle-weights, who .are both known in Hamilton, made the next match. The fight went the full six rounds and Holt got the decision. The verdict of the referee (Major Plugge) was most unpopular and there was a perfect storm of hooting aid groaning en the uart of the audience, who gave the popular decision to Kronast. POOLEY v. BARCLAY. These men in the heavy weight class met next. Pooley has never fought at Hamilton, but Barclay, of Mananui, is the heavy-weight champion of Wia/Kato. The flgiht was tame and one-sided, Pooley having the best of it all through the six rounds and gaining an unquestionable .decision. PROFESSIONAL BOUT. In the professional bout of 15 rounds for a purse, Griffin heat Murphy. The fifth round was the beginning of the end Murphy hanging on, the gong saving him. Early in the sixth Murphy stagfgered away from a mix-up to his corner and held up his hands to show that he had •had enough. Mr Burke was referee. JOHNSON v. WELLS. INJUNCLION SOUGHT.
