During an interval a lawyea named Bogrof shot Count Stolypin, President of the Council of Ministers, and Minister for the Interior, the bullet perforating his lung and loigamgi in the ppine. Another 'bullet wounded a musician. The audience tried to lynch the miscreant, who was arrested. The audience afterwards insisted in singing the National Anthem.

Count Stolyp'ln was leaning over the ledge in front of a seat when a well dressed assailant approached a.d fired twice at two paces. Count Stolypin put his hand up to his chest and fell back on the seat. He was carried out amidst shouts of reprobation from the askance.

The Czar advanced to the front of the box, and artists cm the stage sari<r the National Anthem, the kneeling audience joinioc in and ovationing the Czar until His Majesty and daughters withdrew.

Count Stolypin from the hospital sent a message to the Czar assuring him of his readiness t:i give up his life for him.

Count Stolypin was wounded in th 9 hand and near the spine.

He is suffering frn-r violent pains and passed a restless nieht. Lut showed an improvement in the nfrrnint.
