V.a new i when he hoped t , .h .w a : considerable improvement 'both I average make per ton an* coke j saved. I The four inch main in Lake Road was finished, giving a considerable improvement in the pressure at i Frankton, but it would not be long ! before the Borough Woold ne3d to ibj works outlet main, and jto run a fi-inch main along Milton, jHi nemo a and Ward-streets and Sed- ' don Roaid, across LonJon-str-eet and i down Rostrevor-street. This would ! serve a double purpose, as it would reinforce the pressure both at Frankton and No. 1. The extensions could ; be m|ade when the new i gas holder was erected, or perhaps later. * Gas was now being, supplied to Selkirk and New Streets, and this extension would be finished in a few days. He hoped to start the Ulster-street extension at the begining of next mo-nth, while a 6-inch main would be placed In Hood, Collingwood and Alexander-streets, as the pressure was not what it ought to be in Victoria-street on Satur- ! day nigints. I He estimated the cost of the pro- ; posed extension, to supply eight ! consumers in Mamma-street and ! Soddon road at £153, which show!ed a good profit, and he asked to be allowed to carry the work out at ■the earliest opportunity. | Regarding the waterworks, a reIport was submitted, which showed I that 2,256,000 gallons of water ,had | been pumped during August.
