ivherever the Council wishes mu to send it. Regarding the second machine. Messrs ilooth-MacDoaald and Co. wrote saying i hey could not promise delivery before the lsth inst., so it may be expected to hand any day now.—Shakespeare-street: 'l'ue contractor for breaking up tins road has finished his work and a capital job he has made of it. I'he road, is at present in first-class order, but there are spots where the proportion of gravel among the soil is too small, consequently whenever it rains these places become very muddy and, unless prevented, will soon got into holes again. In order to prevent this occurring, I have arraoged with Mr Jarrett to put in a day now and then in carting grave; to put on these spots where most required.— Whatawhata Swamp Koad : On tlie -Itn of tho month, I went over to this road with Mr Duxfield and arranged with him as to the expenditure of the .£l5O Government grant for this road, and tenders have been called accordingly for to-day's meeting.—HamiltonTuhikaiamea road: On Thursday last I went over the road with Mr Rothwell, when certain works were decided upon as being the best way in which the Government grant of .£IOO could be expended. As the work is principally grading it will be necessary to do a good bit of levelling bofore tenders can be called for the work.— Drain through Germann's: This work has been done, but though it is up to what was agreed upon, the job will not be satisfactory until more fall is btought up to the pipes.—Bridge near Sing's: Tenders were ordered to be called for to-day for this work, but it has been impossible, owing to press of other work, to get them out in jme. This will not, however, entail any unnecessary delay because the timber will aot be to hand till after the holidays. -Te

Iwamutu-Kihikihi Road: The second contract for UK-tilling is now completed, making a total of 136 chains now metalled oetween Te Awamutu and Kihikihi. The third contract, which will extend the metalling some 30 chain* further on towards Kihikihi is now in progress.— Jambridge bridge: Work was commenced on the 7th inst. and his been pushed on as fast as possible since then. Great difficulty has been experienced in getting in the anch r block at the north end of the bridge owing to the loose sand which gives a great deal jf trouble and necessitates very careful timbering. So far it has not been necessary to stop the traffic, and it is hoped that the job may be completed without having to necessitate this.—Tenders have been called and are due for to-day for conciete culvert and grading on Hiwrin's toad, concrete culvert and grading in Campbell's gully, and sanding on the iVhatawhata swamp road. It was decided to hold the next meeting oa January 15th.

The Hamilton Borough Council wrote asking the Council to contribute half the esumated cost (XlfJO) of regrading and re conning that portion of the Onaupo road lying on the boundary between tuu County and the llorough. The Chairman sail the proportion of JouDty traffic was very small; in fac: he might say not one-tenth. As far as miintsnance was concoruel, the County had more claim on the Borough in respect to the Plankton road. The work prop ;sed to Le done was more than the requirements ot the oounty demanded. He thought one half wa3 too much, and the County Council should sooner submit to abitration. Cr. Duxtield moved that the Chairman and Crs. Bell and Potts interview the of Hamilton on the subject. Cr.
