CIIAUIiK OF MORSE STEALING. .luck Ji y was cbaigel with stealing a horse, the property of Mr Waring. Mr Ma Diarmid appeared for defendant. The facts were that Mr W ring put the borso in a paddock with others and when he went for ii it was missing. Subsequently it was ■iscertained that defendant was seen riding the horae away. The horse was eventually found grazing on the road. De endant alleged that lie found the horse on th; road. A a he had broken in the hor.-e and his camp was a long dietance away lie thought he would ride and the borne would find its way back. lie wisoonvicted and ordered to pay the costs, 3s. ALLEtiEI) TRiJSI'ASS. Thomas Hill was charged with treipissing on the land of Mr Paterson and refusing to leave. Mr McGregor appeared for informant. Hill was employed carting flax to the mill. To avoid two eteep pinches in tho road he made a detour of ab >ut five chains through plaintiff's oatß, He had been warned not to do so but persisted in doing it. He was ordered to pay £4 8s costs. ASSAULT. Robert Martin was charged with assaulting Mrs Meredith and also with breaking a pine of glass. He waß fined 209 and coats 16s for the assault and for breaking the pane of glass a fine of Is and costs was intl cted. MAINTENANCE. Isaac Whale was charged with failing to provide for his unlnrn child. Mr Edmonds appeared for defendant, l'he complainant did not appear and the case was struck out. CIVIL CASES.
