THE DOCK ACCIDENT.
. « THE INQUEST (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night The inquest on the bodies of R. Clarke and T. May, the two men who lost their lives in the Calliope dock accident was opened this moning. Mr J. R. Reed appeared on behalf of the relatives of the decens d man May. Mr Mays represented the Government Life Insurance Department ; and Mr E. Russell appeared for the Auckland Harbour Board. Mr F. Earl has been retained by the owners of the Mamari, the ShawSaville Company. The coroner informed the jury that he had telegraphed to the Marine Department, notifying the holding of the inquest, which would probibly be a lengthy one, as exhaustive investigations into the lamentable accident would be necesiary in order that every opportunity should be afforded fcr arriving at the cause of the accident—whether it was occasioned by some faultiness of method or structure th it might be remedied by representation to the proper quarters', or whether it was purely one of those unfortunate mishaps that were always more or less liable to occur under the heat conditions. After the swearing in of the jury an adjournment was made to view the bodies and visit the dock. The inquiry then adjourned for a AUCKLAND, This day. J as. Mayall, another of those injured in the Calliope Dock accident, has succumbed to his injuries.
