THE LAND CAMPAIGN.
HON. R. MtNAB AT OTAHUHU (By Tiii.Eijiui'H.—Press Association). AUCKLAND, this day. The Hon. R McNab opened the Government campaign 011 the Land Bill at (Jtahuhu last night. He pointed out that Sir Joseph Ward and the Government thought the time opportune to remove the evils of the present land system, which v were constantly and swiftly intensify? ing themselves. That was why lie was there to explain the Bill. He explained the provisions of the Bill in detail. At the conclusion of his address Mr McNab was loudly cheered. Mr McLeod moved a vote of hearty thanks for the speech ; but ifti emphatic protest against the Govern* meut's attempt to du away with the optional tenure. This was seconded. Mr D. Sutherland moved an amendment conveying the warmest appreciation for the enlightened and statesmanlike address on the land question and approval of the Government's proposals.
This was seconded and carried by a large majority.
