Mr E Jack has been appointed secretary of the Farmers' [Union in succession to Mr A. J. McCurdy, resigned.
Dr Frengley, District Health officer accompanied by Mr G. W. Alls.>p, went to Cambridge yesterday.
A Press Association message states that the Kev, W. L. Salter.who recently resigned the pastorate of the LSaptist i'abernacle at Ashburton, has accepted a call to the Baptist Church at Waibi.
Mr George Charles Fair, the pretroleum export, died yesterday morning at New Plymouth, after a short illness. Mr fair underwent au operation a week ago for appendicitis, and peritonitis supervened.
The Rev. J. F. Doherty, who for some time resided in Hamilton and Morrinsville, to ok part in the ceremony of laying the f undation st>ne of the Te Henui (New Plymouth) Primitive Methodist Church last Thursday.
The Very Rev. Father Cleary, aßedemptorist father from Waratah (New South Wale-), arrived from Sydney by the s.s. Manuka ytoterday. He will conduct a series of retreats for the clergy and the religious of the Roman Catholic diocese ol Auckland.
Miss Minogue, who has been some time in the employ of the Waikato Times Offi e, was on Saturday presented by Mr R. J. Paull, the proprietor, on behalf of her fellow employees, with a gold brooch as a memento of her connection with the staff. In making the presentation, Mr Paull expressed his regret at losing such a ccuscientious employee.
The following promotions .in the Post and telegraph Department consequent on the death of Mr T. Rose, late Inspector and Assistant Secretary, have been confirmed: Mr D. Kobertson, chief clerk at Wellington, will succeed Mr Rose; Mr F. V. Water.-, s,-cond clerk, succeeds Mr Robertson ; and Mr J. C. Williamson, corresponding clerk, takes the place of Mr Waters.
Mr W. S. Furby, M.1.E.E., dis'rht inspector of telegraphs, Wellington, ia at present in Auckland, relieving Inspector Med 'in,'-, who hts gone to Wellington to takejup the duties \>f superinteu ient of elec.ric lines, in the absence of Mr J. K. Logan. Mis Furby arrived on Saturday. Mr Fuiby is a brother of Mr G. F. Furby, postmaster at Hamilton.
