ACCIDENT AT CHURCHILL.

He was leading a second horse, and I when proceeding 1111'< li the bush, I the horse lie was riding 1 becoming | frightened or being struck by a bush j or twig, commenced to plunge and | rear. The led horse following suit, j the rider was violently pulled from j the saddle to the ground, sustaining | from the fall several severe bruises. ' As Mr Gibbs lay on the ground one of the horses kicked him on the left arm immediately below the shoulder, | with the result that the left arm was fractured, the bone being severely shattered. On recovering from the severe shock, Mr Gibbs was able, though suffering intense pain, to walk home, whence he was conveyed in a launch to Rangiriii, where L)r. Monk, who had been telegraphed for, was awaiting him. He is now doing as well as can be expected. Fortunately only the arm was broken. Had a leg sustained a similar injury Mr Gibbs might have lain for days, the holiday accounting for his absence, and no one anticipating an accident.
