By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, last night. At the Police Court to-day a young man named Carruthers, was sentenced to four months' imprisonment for wilfully damaging a mare. The evidence showed that the accused, losin» his temper when trying to make a jibbing animal pull a load, broke a shovel over its head and put a lighted fuse under it, with the result that the udder was destroyed.and the mare's leqs and thighs roasted.
