WAIHI MINING FATALITY.
THE INQUEST. (Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIHI, this day. At the coroner's inquiry into the accident at the Waihi Company's mine on Tuesday last, by which William Gray came by his deaih, the jury returned a verdict that the assistant engiueer, John Henderson, was guilty of homicide, by indirectly causiog the death of Gray, by giving instructions for cutting off the supply of compressed air, and failiug to warn the men that such air would be cut off; but considered the offence not culp;ibl', as the assistant eugiueer had no reason to believe that the men wete working in the shaft at that time of the day. The coroner said he did not interpret the verdict as one of manslaughter.
