Messrs McNicol and Co. report:— At Te Kuiti, oa Wednesday last, we yarded 800 head of cattle, There was a good attendance, and prices were about the same as those ruling in Waikato. Three and ahalf and 4-year steers, £5 143; 2J and 3year steers, £3 15s to £4 15s; 2-year steers, £'2 15s to £3 13s; 15-month steers, £2 to £2 ss; calves and yearlings. 20s to 335; empty store cows, £2 to £2 10s. A number of dairy heifers were yurded, those wellgrown and close to profit sold readily from £i 15a to £7; others, £2 2s 6d to £4; choice cow just calved, £i ss. We have to report having sold privately, account of Mr C. O'Driscoll, of Waihou, s brown entire colt, rising 2 years, by Lurd Elderslie, for £IOO, to a Taihape settler. REMUERA STOCK MARKET. (By Telegraph-Special to the Waikato Times). AUCKLAND. This Day. At Remuera yesterday, beef was in full supply, and no better worth. Steers made from £5 10s to £ll 2s 6d; oows, £3 10s to £7 17s 6d. Sheep were plentiful, and prices were 2s ahead lower. Wethers to 275, shorn to 19s 3d, ewes to 23s 6d, shorn to 17s, lambs to 18s 9d. Pigs.—Sold at late high rates. MARKET PRICES CURRENT. Horses have been in st?ady demand, those of a good stamp being insufficient f< r requirements. An average number was entered for disposal by auotion at the Durham Yards on Friday. Bidding fluctuated, but on the whole values were in favour of the vendor. We quote: Heavy draughts, £2O to £45; medium do., £l7 15a to £33; hacks aad light harne.-s, £8 10s to i!2l ; trotting mare, 3yrs old, by Ngapara—Jennie, 30 guineas; dogcart, £ls 10s; springcart, £l2. * n Wednesday last we held our first cattle fair of the season at the Papakura Yards, when we yarded 2140 head of cattle There was a good attendance of buyers and competition was brisk for all classes, although prices were scarcely up to last years' rates. With few exceptions every thing was sold. At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday there was a good muster of dairy and store stock and an average yarding of beef. Dairy cows sold at from £3 10a to £7 12s Gd ; empty do., ,£1 12s 6d to £4 Is : calves, 18s to j£l 19s. Bidding for beef was not over keen, although quotations are the same. The market showed a firmer trne. Oxen sold in a few instanoes to 22s per 1001b; cow, 16s to 18s. Steers sold at from £6 12a 6d to £9 16s 6d; oows, £3 15s to £6 15s. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The following cable has been received from the High Commissioner, dated London, 6th October:—
The mutton market is very firm, and stocks are reduced. It is fully anticipated that supplies will be moderate for the next few months. Canterbury mutton is quoted at 3jd and 3*d; North Island, 3fd and 3|d for light and heavy weights respectively.
The lamb market is very quiet, and the demand has considerably fallen off. The average price for Canterbury is 4§d; other than Canterbury brands, 4jd. There is a generally active demand for New Zealand beef, and the market ii consequently firm. Hindquarters are quoted at 3sd; fores, 2gd.
The tallow market is steady, Choice New Zealand is quoted at 118s per cwt. nominally, Danish, 1245; Canadian, 115s per cwt.
The cheese market is firm with the demand only moderate. Canadian makes are quoted at 63s per cwt. The hemp market is very firm and shows signs of strength.
