THE WAIKATO HOSPITAL.
GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE URGED. (By Telegraph.—Special to Waikato Times). WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr Oreenslade had a lengthy interview to-day with the Hon. Fowlds, re a grant 6f £3OOO towards the cost of a new Hamilton Hospital to be built in brick. He said if the whole amount could not be provided this session the Hospital Board would be satisfied with £lsoo this year, and a similar sum next suasion. The buildings, plans of which had bpeu approved by Dr. McGregor, would cost £IO,OOO to oomplete; the first portion oost approximately £2,500, and the Government had last session only contributed £SOO. The new nursos' home had also just been completed, costing £2300 Mr referred to the situation of th-3 hospital aai to th-) fact that oie third of the pstients arrived from districts from whici the Hospital Board derived no benbtit whatever. Mr Fowlds, io reply, said he would give the matter his uiosc careful consideration, and would assist i»8 far as possible.
