WAIKATO PETITIONS.
(By Telegraph. Special to Waikato Times.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Mr Groonslade has interviewed the Minister of Public Works in reference to a petition by Samuel Fullerton and about sixty other ratepayers and residents of >e lOwhai and I'e apa, calling attention to ohe fact that they are desirous of leach,aK . tllu Kapa railway station and Hamilton by a better route than the one now available. It is estimated that the proposed road will cost about j£ 100, and assistance to the extent of a grant of .£2OO is desired. Ihe Minister hss promised to carefully consider the matter.
A petition was this afternoon presented by MrGreenslade to the Minister of Lands, sitrned by Joseph C'orboy, of Ii hiisihi, and 115 others, requesting the Government to take immediate steps for the purpose of assisting _in the destruction of rabbit? which, it is claimed, are becoming a matter o* sen-ius to the farmers of the Waipa district. The petition state c that since the Government ceased purchasing skins, some years ago, the post has increased to such.an extent that the rabbits in a short space of time will take complete possession of the district.
