♦ (Br Telegraph.—Pkess Association.) IiUNEDiN, Saturday. A fire broke out last evening in a sixroomed house in High-street, owned by Mr B. Greenwood, and occupied by Mrs Kolls, wife of the captain of the Tarawera. The fire spread to an adjoining eleven-roomed house, owned by Mr George Fenwiok and occupied by Mrs Monk, both being practically destroyed witn their contents. NEW PLYMOUTH, (Saturday. Mr Berry, local representative of the Parapara Iron and Steel Company, intimated at the Chamber of Commerce meeting to-night that tne Government is prepared to amend clause 14 of the Parapara leases in any way desired by the company in order to ensure the development of the iron ore industry.
