LOUD ROBERTS' VIEWS
LONDON, January ijO. Meld-Marshal Lord Roberts, addressing the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce yesterday on the defences, said, "We should aim at a total of ooe million men, including the auxiliaries. One half of the total is needed for the defence of India, and the other to fit us to maintain a European struggle, The militia should be earmarked as the first reserve of a foreign service army of -00,000 regulars, and our yeomanry aud volunteers should be expanded. Every able-bodied man ought to undergo a few months of training in camp.
