WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Balance Sheet.—The clerk submitted the draft half-yearly balance-sheet, from' which it appeared that the Council account stood at debit to the amount of £309 6s 4d/ Model Farm Reserve.-The commits' (Crs. Coates and Furze) reported re trie subject of improving the Model Farm Re*., serve, with a view to render it fit for graft', ing purposes. They recommended that the. Aroha-street drains be deepened for 2$ chains at certain dimensions, and continued! at a somewhat smaller size. • This was esti' mated to cost £45. Further drains should 1» . made, at right angles, and so placed that 5 they could be utilised in any future subdivi' sion of the land for leasing purposes.—Civ, Seddon, as a member of the committee who was unable to attend at the inspection, said '• the council should protect itself. Theworlf should be laid out by a competent engineer/ —Replying to the Chairman, Cr. Coat'eg. estimated the cost of the whole job at frorff £BO tn £9O. He quite agreed that they, should employ a competent Engineer. _ Tbtf. report recommended and the Chairman strongly urged the carrying out of the work/ Ho moved that the report be adopted and. that a competent Engineer be employed to carry out the work.—This was seconded by Cr. Paton, and carried.—Cr. Seddon moved, that Mr T. G. Sandes be employed aS. Engineer for the work at 5 per cent,"" 1 ' seconded by Or. Furze, and carried. Valuation.-The Chairman intimated that under the new act the valuation of the county must be completed by the 15th' February, and sent to the assessment court by the 15th of March.-Cr. Seddotf moved that tenders be invited for the posj of Valuator, the same to be received aaa 4 dealt with by a committee, consisting of the Chairman, Crs. Coates and Seddon.-" This was agreed to.
