DKI'INITB proposals have now been laid before the < rovurnment by a syndicate formed in Auckland for the construction of the Puhipuhi Tramway. The proposa nude is that the railway line be extended from Grnhauistown to Puhipuhi at cost about yloo,ooo. The syndicate ask the Government to givo them under the Railway's Construction Act thirty percent of the cost of construction in timber with which the Government have power to deal, although they cannot so deal with land. The proposal is receiving favorable consideration.
