SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
A WK1.1.-KXOWN old Hamilton resident named George Mayes met with a serious accident on Thursday morning. He was engaged with his son, Arthur Muyes, in splitting bluegum posts, and whilst holding a stake to keep the log open to enable his son to cut .way the strinaers that was holding the log together, tho s«n over-reached his blow, and the axe which was very sharp cutting into the under side of his father's left arm a little above the wrist, cuusing a deep incised wound about five inches in length. Fortunately the bone was not touched. The wound was tied up and the injured man was conveyeed to the Hospital where Dr. Kenny at once attended to the injury. Mr Mayes returneJ to his home and on enquiry last night we were pleased to hear that he is progressing favourably.
