(by telegraph—press -association). CHRISTCHUROH, Last Night. Tnii executive of the Railway Employees Society has appointed Mr Hobau : president, Mr Owen vice-president, and Mr Edwarda secretary, and Messrs Winter, Clivens, and Haden to interview the commissioners on June 16. It was decided to adhere to the communication of March 29th dealing with boy labour, hours of labour, and piece work. It is stated that the master bakers have declined to carry out their agreement with the journeymen, who had accepted their terms, and there will probably be further trouble. The Diocesan Synod this afternoon passed resolutions authorising the church property trustees to apply to Parliament for an Act to enable them to pay the property-tax levied on the £50,000 loan raised in England on the property.
