FISHERIES DISPUTE.

London, June 2, The despatch of British troops to Newfoundland is denied, and the authorities state that the warships have merely proceeded thither to execute their ordinary summer manoeuvres. In reply to a question Sit J. Ferguson said that neither the English nor the French Governments were aware of the landing of French troops at St. George's Bay. St John's, June' 2. Newfoundland is willing to allow French fishermen to procure bait if the French Government abolishes the system of paying bounties.
