WESLEYAN CHURCH, HAMILTON
The usual quarterly meeting of the officebearers of the above Church, for the Hamilton Circuit, was held on Tuesday afternoon last. There was an unusually large attendance, owing no doubt to the fact of it being the last quarterly meeting at which the Rev. Mr Carr (who ia to be removed to Pukekohe) would be present. The appointments for the coming quarter were made, and Messrs Bycroft (of Ngaruawahia), and Melville (of Hamilton), were elected circuit stewards. A letter was received from the Rev. Mr Lawry, the Rev. Mr Carr's successor, informing them of his appointment to take charge of the Hamilton Circuit, and also expressing a desire that they should co-operate and work together, and that his labours amongst them miorht be successful. At about six o'clock a splendid repast was provided by a committee of ladies' of the congregation to satisfy the inner man, which was done g»od justice to. After tea an adjournment was made to the Church, when the resident minister made the congregation acquainted with the business that had been transacted during the afternoon, and intimated that at the last conference, held recently at Christchurch, it was decided that the whole of the Wesleyans' of
New Zealand should celebrate tho jubilee of their Church in December next, when the whole of the Sunday-School scholars of each circuit would moet together. Special sermons would be preached on that day and special jubilee hymns would be sung by the children, Special meetings would also be arranged to take place during that iveek. The rest of the evening was spent in a social manner.
