A NEW CREED.
TO THE EDITOIt. Sir, —I see that a minister in Australia has said that we will need to have a new creed. If we are to judge of a creed by its fruits, no doubt this minister was eoirect in saying so, for religion is now a failure. In the past, the present creed or creeds has been the principal influence in evolving man, but man has to be continually evolving to higher and higher, and he who runs may read that the present creeds are helpless to raise man to that higher state. Men of a religious frame of mind never need be afraid that the creed of the fool that is, that there is no God, will be the creed of the future, there is just as much likelihood of man believing in the future that water will run up a hill. Mr Editor, I have for many years thought that if \ye are to judge a creed by its fruits, we have, and for the last hundred years have had a perfect creed, that is, the creed of the Quakers. As far as I can see, I see that the followers. of the goad William Penn are as near perfection as it is possible for poor human nature to be. Of course the Quakers would not have us, it is not likely they would receive us to their own destruction as religious men, but ministers and priests might try and educate us to that point that would entitle us to ask to be accepted by them.—l am etc. Harapipi.
