VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
Hamilton Light Infantry.
It having been announced that the company would lie inspected by Colonel Shepherd, there was an excellent muster 011 parade (sixty of all ranks), 011 Tuesday evenim;, under Captain Reid, and Lieutenants Hdßecnmbo and Kirk.. From some cause, however, the colonel was not present, and the corps was therefore inspected by the captain, the arms, accoutrements, and baud instruments, being found in splendid order. After inspection, the corps was exercised in a few company movements, and were then marched out, headed by their band, under Bandmaster Mettam, and, returning to the hall, were dismi-sed.
For the better working of the company, the corps has been divided into half companies, No. 1 Company being under Lieut. Edgecumbe, and No '1 under Lieut. Kirk, two serge.ints being appointed to each half company. Rifle practice will bo held on Saturday next at the range, and as a match with the Te Awamutu Cavalry is talked of, it is hoped that those wlio can make it convenient will roll up for practice, in order that the corps may give a good account of itself in its first competition with another company.
