The Lamonte Syndicate. Auckland, Monday Nigb*. At the Lamonte Syndicate meeting to-day, the directors said they could not recommend taking over the furnaca, aa it had not fulfilled expectations. Mr Porter said that as it appeared there was a difference of opinion, some of the shareholders wiahiug the enterpribe to go on, ho would move that, the «ontractor having failed to carry out his contract, the directors be empowered to transfer to Mr Lainonte, or any one appointed by him, the furnace building! and other property now in possession of the company for a sum of money to be arranged for, and that the directors have full power for winding up the present company. This was seconded by Mr Clark. After discussion the meeting adjourned till Wednesday. Fire. On Saturday night, a fire took place on the farm of Mr w. Walter's, Papatuitoi, which caiuod considerable damage. The outbreak took place in certain out-build-ings which were sublet to Mr Eccles, and in which a threshing machine and steam engine were placed. The place was completely burned down, and the rasichinery destroyed. The property was insured for £200 in the New Zealand Office. Another "Musket" for Australia. Colonel Eraser has disposed of the colt by Musket-Fancy, which ho bought at the last Stud Company's salo, to an Australian gentleman whose name has not transpired. The price'said to be paid is 180 guineas.
