Melbourne, Friday. A DEbTltucriVE fire broke out last night in the ex-tensive timber yards belonging to Messrs C. S. Ross and Co. Damage to the extent of £1500 was done befoie the flames were subdued. It is believed that the loss is fully covered by insurances but paiticulars are not available. The gasworks, which were immediately adjoining the timber yard, were at one time in great danger of destruction, but fortunately the progress of the fire in that direction was eventually checked.
