WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.

— ♦ The ordinary meeting of the above council was held at the chambers 011 Tuesday, July 29th, Councillors Lake. Lang, teasdale, German, .Atkinson and Grice being present. The usual pieluuinaries being disposed of, the Engineer delivered his monthly repot t on the state of county works. Dellicar's Contract.— lt was agreed to offer the contractor the choice of completing his con ti act with full amount of sidings, or be paid up for work done. Cambridge West Drunaue.— Councillors Grice and Atkinson weie appointed a committee to ascertain what assistance would be contributed by thy local board, and make arrangements at their discretion. Jolly's Swamp Road.— Cr. Atkinson was authored to spend £10 in repairs. Small Bird Nuisance —It was agreed to supply local boards with quantities of poisoned win at asked for, the clcik to ascertain cost of the same. LEAVE ok Absence.— Leave of Absence was granted to the chauman, Mr Lake, during the seasion of Pailwmcnt, Ci Geriimnn being appointed chditman pio tern. Galloway Street.— The clcik was directed to forvi ard a copy of engineer's repot t-nith Kihikiht Board. Wilson's Contract.— The clctk wa-i ordetcd to ask the Newcastle Board if they propose to complete the wot k. County Engineer. -A communication from the Waikato County Council was received on the question ot employing one engineer for all works. It w.is agreed to co-operate on the basis of a fixed salary to be borne in propoi tion to rateable values only County Kates — The council t evolved to stiike a rate of one half-penny at the next meeting. This was all the business.
