TE A WAMUTU.
Colonel Smith, who has been appointed to the head mastership of this school arrived here on Wednesday. The school opens on Monday next, the 11th inst, after a rather long vacation. The delay has of course been occasioned by the changing in the mastership. Our new teacher brings with him the highest testimonials from Devonport where he held an appointment for nine years. The fact of his having held a position for that length of time in such an important school as Devonport, and receiving such high testimonials from the leading residents and clergy of that district, speaks well for his ability as a teacher, and augurs well for his success in this school. That tho Board of Education fully recognise the importance of this school is evident by the appointment they have made. Mr Benge left it in a flourshing state, and it is fully expected that Colonel Smith will keep it up to the sanr.e standard of excellence. He begins his duties here with the wishes of the residents for his future success.— (Own Correspondent).
