London, January 4. News has been received that the Biitish India Steam Navigation Company's s s. Duke of Westminster. A note has been aildiessed by the Egyptian Government to the Biit.sh Foieign Minister, in which a demand is made for England's assistance in the Sondan. The Note stat u s that, unless this lie accorded, the Egyptian Government will he compelled to lelinquish to Turkey the eastern poition of the Soudan, and concentrate its tioops in Egypt proper, and thus be able to dispense witli the British army of occupation.
