Waikato v. Auckland.
At the close of the County match at Cambridge on Saturday last, a. meeting of cricketerb was held for the purpose of making arrangements to play against Auckland next week. The following players intimated that they would be able to go to Auckland, and it was agreed that the team be cho&en from the number on the ground : — MessraH. E. Cotton, F. Forrest, Stevens, Collins, Fitzpatrick, Grierson, Chapman, Jenkins, A. B. Stubbing, Hinton, Case, Jones, Benge, and Hunt. The name of Mr C. S. Stafford was added to the list, though it is not known for certain whether he will go or not. It is intended that the trip shall last a week, commencing on the 14th mst., and the programme includes a two days' match against the Auckland represent?tivea, a two days' match against the Vagabonds, and a one day's match against Otahuhu.
A man who has tried it says that all the short cuts to wealth are overcrowded. Waiter (to cook) : " George, the gent at number three says as his potatoes ain't good— says as they've all got black eyes in 'em." George (real name Patrick), " Bedad, thin, it's no fault o'mine. The spalpeens must have been foighring after I put 'em fa $bo pot."
