WELLINGTON, Last Night.

The first annual meeting of the Wellington-Manawatu Railway Company was held to-day. In the report the directors congratulate the shareholders on the satisfactory position of affairs. The contract is let for the construction to Wellington-Longburn Junction, amount ing to, £72,963. Several contracts are finished, 1 and others arc in progress. ' The survey of the line had advanced considerbly, so that in two or three months tenders may be called for 28 miles. This will make 35 miles in course of, construction. The report was adqp^ed.
